Cancer survivors put their struggles on public display

Amarillo Globe News

Cancer survivors shared their stories over the weekend in an art show featuring a medium normally not on public display.

About 30 bras adorned with flowers, feathers, paint and other accessories were strung up on clothing lines with tales of the women who created them as part of Panhandle Breast Health’s ninth annual “Bra Talk” art show at Chalice Abbey.

Survivor Deana Ray, who contributed to the show, has been cancer-free for two years.

“I’ve learned that I don’t have to be super 100 percent of the time,” she said. “I can stop and relax and realize this has affected me and I have to stop and adjust for it.”
