HERE IS WHERE WE ARE TODAY
A lot has happened since your last gift.
In 2023, we opened a second screening site in Pampa. In 2026, we added a third in Dumas, bringing free mammograms closer to women who had no other options. This year, our goal is 300 mammograms.
We are not there yet. And every woman still waiting is someone whose story is not finished.
When Abigail found a lump, she did not know if she could afford to find out what it was. She lived more than an hour from the nearest screening facility and had no insurance. She found PBH, applied in minutes, and was approved quickly.
Her mammogram revealed a concerning mass. She needed follow-up diagnostics, a biopsy, and a six-month check. In the end, she did not have breast cancer. But she found that out because someone gave.
Without PBH, she would have faced more than $10,000 in out-of-pocket costs. Or worse, she would have waited and wondered.
Abigail's story, Texas Panhandle
WHY IT MATTERS
The difference between two numbers.
Breast cancer does not wait. The gap between early and late detection is not just medical. It is the difference between a woman being here for her family or not.
99%
5-year survival rate when caught early
33%
5-year survival rate when caught late
A mammogram is often the only thing standing between those two numbers. PBH is the only organization in the Texas Panhandle focused solely on getting uninsured women screened. No paperwork. No documentation required. An application that takes five minutes, available in English and Spanish.
